Pictures Galore

I was informed that I have been lacking in the pictures category, so I thought I would do a post of nothing but pictures. Hopefully later this week I'll get a chance to update more on what is going on in our lives. For now, enjoy the pictures.

We got Alex's highchaire out for him so he can get used to sitting in it while we're eating dinner. He'll be ready for food before we know it. He seemed to like it and it kept his toys closer to him.

This is Alex's favorite thing to do while getting his diaper changed. He received this Alphabet feltboard from Great Aunt Pam and Uncle Geof. He loves it.

Getting him ready for our open house party. Kent likes to put his shoes on him. I have to agree they make him look even cuter. (Can you tell he found his toes?)

These next few pictures are from our open house party. We ended up having about 30 friends come for the night. It was fun to celebrate the fact that we are finally settled in our new condo. Looking around it made us feel like this is home now. We're so thankful for our friends in Chicago and beyond.

This was right after Alex got his shoes. Pretty cute, huh?

One of Alex's new favorite toys is his Baby Einstein exersaucer. He has finally figured out how everything on it works, although you'd never know it from this picture.

We have finally been able to stop swaddling him at night and for naps. It was a little rough at first, but I think we have finally fallen into a rhythm. He likes his teddy bear too.

So, after our last post you were probably wondering if we were able to get any sleep. This picture was actually taken right after I posted. Apparently we can see here who rules the house right now! Sleeping is going better. He is still waking up once at night, but is getting better at soothing himself back to sleep.

Kent & Alex. Notice the orange shoes. He is ready for ILLINI season.

Sleepless Night(s)

I mentioned in my last post that Alex has now learned how to roll over. While this is an exciting milestone, it has also made his sleeping much worse. For example, this morning he decided to wake up at 3:30am and at 6:30am he has yet to go back to sleep. Kent and I are both exhausted and are not sure how to fix this problem, so....any advice would be appreciated. Alex rolls to his tummy and then screams because he can't get back to his back.

We are no longer swaddling him, which he seems to sleep well (when he's asleep) not being swaddled, but he wakes up and kicks himself over. Even when we attempted to swaddle him at some point when we were becoming desperate this morning, he still was able to roll himself over swaddled. Anyway.....send some advice our way.

4 Months Old

Time flies by so fast. It is hard to believe that a year ago we knew Alex was going to be arriving in April. On Tuesday he had his four month check-up and received a clean bill of health. He weighed 14 pounds 2 ounces and was 25 1/2 inches long. Basically he is tall and thin. Dr. Lui did check his fingernails again and they are growing, but still not at a normal pace for a baby, so we are keeping our appointment with the pediatric dermatologist for September. The good news is that we don't see anything else developmentally that should cause concern so we are not going to end up seeing the genetic specialist. Alex is rolling over like crazy! He loves to roll from his back to his tummy, but has not quite figured out how to get to his back again, which makes him upset. Changing his diapers is quite challenging now. He is also really starting to grab objects and of course they go right in his mouth. He is also starting to explore his exersaucer more, which he loves.

In other news, Kent will be working from home full-time starting in two weeks. We are excited about this new change and look forward to what is ahead of us.

For now, that is about all that is new on this front. We are settled in our condo and enjoying it everyday! The bike path has been great to have and the few times we have used the pool, have been wonderful as well. Come Visit!!!
